We Buy Used Stack Melting Furnaces | Aluminum Stack Melting Furnaces For Sale

We Buy, Sell and are a Supplier of used aluminum stack melting furnaces used in aluminum die casting and foundry applications. Stack furnaces are high efficiency vertical charged furnaces that use the waste gases to preheat incoming charge materials in the stack which results in higher energy efficiency. Major brands include: Stotek, Striko MH Series, Modern Equipment Jet-Melter and Mirco-Melters, and Lindberg/MPH.

Aluminum Stack Melting Furnaces for Sale

Die Cast Machinery, LLC is a dealer that specializes in all items used in a die casting factory including aluminum stack melting furnaces. The Key advantages of a stack melting furnaces include: increased melt efficiency, improved operator safety due to limited exposure to molten metal, reduced floor space as compared to traditional reverb melting furnaces; smaller bath size, lower operating costs due to the higher melt efficiency, typically about 1,100 Btu per pound versus over 2,000 Btu per pound in a typical reverb furnace, reduced costs for holding metal due to the smaller bath size, fewer CO2 emissions because less energy is consumed, reduced dross rate (as low as 1%) and less manpower requirements due to the automated charging system.

Typical operation of a stack melting furnace:

In a typical stack melting furnace a mixture of aluminum scrap (gates, runners, overflows, flash) and ingot is charged into the top of the stack by the charging systems. While the style of these systems vary from manufacturer to manufacturer they are basically transport elevators that move the aluminum to the top of the furnace where it is "dumped" (or charged) into the "stack area" of the furnace. This metal is then preheated by the waste gas that is generated by the main melt burner. This waste gas not only preheats the aluminum but also drys the aluminum and helps remove other surface impurities. At the bottom of this stack of of preheating aluminum ingot and scrap the metal is sitting on a refractory shelf area which is being heated by the main furnace burner. As the metal nears the refractory shelf it becomes hotter eventually reaching the melting point at which time it melts and flows into the liquid bath area. This process is continuous with freshly charged material working its way down to the shelf and melting while new material is being added to the top of the stack. Stack melting furnaces can be either stationary or tilting. Metal is removed from stationary furnace by either tapping, pumping or using a launder system. In a tilting stack melting furnace the entire furnace "tilts" and metal flows out of a discharge port into a transfer ladle or other similar device.
