We Buy Used Aluminum Tower Melting Furnaces Worldwide | Tower Melting Furnaces For Sale

We Buy, Sell and are a Supplier of high efficiency tower melting furnaces used in aluminum die casting and foundry applications. Tower melting furnaces are top charged furnaces that use the waste gas energy to preheat incoming melt charge in the tower area which results in higher energy efficiency than a typical reverb furnaces. Major brands include: Lindberg/MPH, Striko Westoffen, Modern Equipment Micro and Jet-Melter series, and Stotek.

Aluminum Tower Melting Furnaces for Sale Worldwide

Die Cast Machinery, LLC is a dealer that specializes in all items used in a die casting factory including tower melting furnaces for aluminum. Major advantages of tower melting furnaces include: lower operating costs due to increased melt efficiency, greater operator safety due to limited exposure to molten metal, significantly reduced floor space as compared to reverb melting furnaces; smaller bath size to melt rate ratio, reduced costs for holding metal due to the smaller bath size, less CO2 emissions because less energy is consumed in the melting and holding processes, dramatically reduced dross rate (metal loss rate), as low as 1% and minimized manpower requirements due to the automated charging system.

Typical operation of a tower melting furnace:

In a typical tower melting furnace a mixture of aluminum scrap including gates, runners, overflows and flash along with ingot is charged into the top of the tower furnace by the automated charging systems. While the style of these systems vary from manufacturer to manufacturer they are basically transport elevators that move the ingot and scrap aluminum to the top of the furnace where it is "dumped" (or charged) into the "tower area". This charge metal is then preheated by the waste gas that is generated by the main melt burner. This waste gas not only preheats the aluminum but also helps remove other surface impurities on the scrap aluminum including moisture. At the bottom of this tower of of preheating aluminum ingot and scrap the metal is sitting on a refractory shelf area which is being heated by the main furnace burner. As the metal nears the refractory shelf it becomes hotter eventually reaching the melting point at which time it melts and flows into the bath (holding area). This process is continuous with freshly charged material working its way down to the shelf and melting while new material is being added to the top of the tower. Tower melting furnaces can be either stationary or tilting. Metal is removed from stationary tower furnace by either tapping, pumping or using a launder system. In a tilting tower melting furnace the entire furnace "tilts" and metal flows out of a discharge port into a transfer ladle or other similar device.
