Die Cast Machinery, LLC is a dealer in second hand Leica Geosystems Coordinate Measuring Machines. A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is a precision tool used for measuring the physical geometrical characteristics of an object. The CMM machine may be manually controlled by a human operator or it may be computer numerical controlled (CNC-CMM) also called direct numerical control or DNC-CMM. Measurements are typically made using a touch-probe such as a Renishaw probe. CMM machines work in three dimensional space and typically have three axis movement (X, Y, Z) though often times the probe head can be swiveled to an angular setting. The relationship of the points measured is still three dimensional. The machine moves along on its axis movements touching the part being measured at predefined points. The distance between these points are sent back to advance data collection software. The data collection software is the most powerful part of the CMM. The software confirms if a part was manufactured within specified tolerance. By comparing one part to the next the software can also predict when a manufactured part will be out of tolerance before the part is ever built.
